Welcome! Thank you for visiting my page. I realize that if you have stumbled upon me it is because you are seeking the opportunity for you or your child to feel better in some capacity, whether it be mentally, behaviorally, physically, emotionally, or spiritually. The reality is unfortunately most people don't seek therapy during times of praise and celebration but rather during times of difficulty and hardship. The good news is, I am here to help, restore and instill hope.
So who am I? I am a African American female, a wife, a mother of two, a daughter, a sister, friend, advocate...and the list goes on. However, the most important word that I can identify with is human; meaning that I can wholeheartedly relate to the trials and tribulations of life and the many emotions that follow.
My approach to therapy is person-centered and I will cater your services to your specific needs. I also operate from a psychodynamic theoretical orientation in which I believe that we must take in account the situations and experiences from our past in order to better understand our present. With this, I will work heavily on helping you understand certain thought patterns, ways of behaving and in some cases recover suppressed experiences and memories. I have a passion for working with the minority and marginalized (LGBTQA) communities in order to break the stigma of going to therapy and bringing awareness to certain generational traumas. My goal is to change the idea of what it looks like to address your mental and emotional wellness by providing non-traditional and alternative techniques to healing. I do not discriminate against race, class, gender, gender identity, belief systems, or sexual orientation.
I have over 6 years of experience working with children from the age of 4 to adults of all ages. I look forward to meeting you and helping you along the way.
